Upcoming Beacon Events: Dinner for the Beacons: The Beacons are looking for individuals or families to provide dinner on the following nights: October 21 and 28. Pumpkin Picking: We will pick pumpkins on Thursday, October 11th.  Meet at the church at 3:00 p.m.  Volunteers to pick and to drive are needed. Children’s Church: Would you like to spend some quality time with a great group of kids learning and doing activities based on the Children’s Sermon message? If you are able to help at least one Sunday between the months of October through December, please see Valerie Parker or check out the sign-up sheet on the Kid’s Corner board at the bottom of stairs (next to Children’s Church/Sunday School room). Two volunteers are needed each week. Details of story and activities will be provided to you a week beforehand.

Mount Airy Women’s Bible Study: This is a group of (young-ish!) women who join together in fellowship in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking to grow together through friendship, prayer, and study of the Bible. We meet each Wednesday from 9:30-11:15 at the First Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Hall. Childcare is available. Questions? Contact Elizabeth Gatewood: (610) 715-3688.

Pastoral Residency Program

Dear Friends in Christ,

Sunday at our Congregational Meeting I announced that the session had approved the establishment of a pastoral residency program. Our hope is that this program will allow us to meet and hire the person that God has for us. This person will function as an associate pastor whose focus will be on Christian Discipleship for adults and children.

There is a page on our website dedicated to this new initiative. You may read more about it by clicking here.

I am excited to see how this process unfolds and excited to meet the person God calls to be with us.

Grace and Peace,

Griff

Great things are happening at First Presbyterian.  They can’t happen without your presence here.  Thank you for coming to worship!   Great things also can’t happen without your financial support.   Thank you for giving.  Your tithes and offerings have allowed 7 Beacons and 2 leaders to worship and laugh together at the Montreat Youth Conference, supported an amazing outpouring of volunteers for Children’s Ministry from Spark to a vibrant VBS, nurtured a growing number of young families and children, welcomed new adults into our fellowship, and continued the daily life of congregation.

The Budget Committee would like to provide the congregation with a brief summary of our finances in the first 8 months of the year.  Our finances are in good shape; our income exceeding our expenses.  Thank you.  If you have any questions, see Elder Debbie Stoltz.
