FINANCIAL

Last week while reading about how we pass on our trust in the Triune God from one generation to another, I came upon a list of the things that we do to make that happen.

I was struck by the fact that stewardship was included. As a pastor, stewardship can become one of the many annual and necessary programs and tasks in the church’s life. It seems more like a burden than an invitation. Yet, the witness of prior generations is that stewardship is one of the ways that we open ourselves up to God’s work in our lives. How? Both our time and our money seem scarce. Why would we ever give it away? Giving some of it away creates spaces in our lives where we see God provide for us. When we give, we invite God to show up for us and to us. When we give, we admit that our calendars and checkbooks are not a zero sum game. When we give, we answer God’s invitation to have our ears and eyes opened to how he provides for us in the very concrete details of life- in our time and money.

Through various mailings you have been hearing from other church members who giving thanks for our church and witness to its place in their lives. Make time to read their words. I hope that they will encourage you as they encouraged me. After reading, would you prayerfully consider a generous pledge to FPC in 2017? -Griff

Church Pictorial Directory

camera-guyYou’ve probably seen the signs around the church about a new pictorial directory coming soon!  We sure hope that’s the case.  Our goal is to make this a success, but without you, it won’t be!  There are a number of new faces in our church family and not everyone knows each other by name.  In an effort to make that happen, we ask that you sign up for a time slot on one of the two following days:

Monday, October 24th or Tuesday, October 25th

You can sign up by calling Re:Member Church Directories at: 1-866-557-2253

Please call today so that we’ll be able to include the many faces of our congregation.  You’ll also have the ability to submit a photo if you can’t be here on either of the days listed.
