CHURCH MINISTRIES

The Flowers in the Church today are given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of our parents, Judge J. and Mrs. Fate Beal and Frank B. and Alice Shelton by David and Millie Beal.

Worship Notes: Next week’s sermon (August 7th) will be on Psalm 11, for those that would like to follow along.

Montreat Youth Conference: Please be in prayer for the youth and chaperones that are traveling to the youth conference at Montreat this week, that they will grow closer in their relationship with God and with each other.

Adult Sunday School Classes: Check out one of our classes on Sunday mornings. Each meets at 9:45 a.m. We have the Odds and Ends Class that meets in the Odds and Ends Room upstairs; the Hebrews Study that meets in the Fellowship Hall and the Snell Williamson Ladies Class that meets in the Ladies Parlor. *During the summer, the Ladies Class is taking part in the Hebrews study.

Note: We currently have a Wurlitzer piano that is being stored in the choir room. It needs a new home. If you are interested in taking it off of our hands, please see Griff or Ellen.

WITNESS

First Steps Program: Help us spread the word! We will begin a new childcare program in September that nurtures the spiritual and social lives of toddlers who are one and two years old. If you have children or know of friends that do, that would like to be a part of the program, please ask them to email Julie Marshall (our lead teacher) at: juliehillmarshall@gmail.com.

Friends Feeding Friends: Thursday, August 4th, at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The following people are signed up to assist: Steven Lowe, Joy Barlow, Sylvia Chilton, Bob Chilton, Kym Goins, Heather Elliot, Cristi Arington, and Paul Belk.

Offering for Hunger and Hope: Next Sunday, August 7th, we will receive our Pennies for Hunger and our Yokefellow food offering. Foods for the month of August are: Crackers and Peanut Butter. All non-perishable items are accepted.

Relay for Life Survivor Dinner: Will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Monday, August 8th. The cost for the dinner is covered. However, each year, we invite churches to participate by preparing homemade desserts (pies, cakes, cookies, etc) to feed at least 20 people. If you can assist with this community outreach, please contact Dara Parsons (336.401.0150) or Debbie McCreary (336.830.9958).

Red Cross Blood Drive: THANK YOU to all who gave blood last week! Your small act of kindness helps save the lives of others!

Montreat Prayer Partners Needed! Shasta needs 7 volunteers to be Prayer Partners for the Montreat travelers. This is very important to everyone traveling to Montreat. What is required of you? To pray for your person AND write them a letter that Shasta will give to them while they are there. Please let Shasta know if you can help out. Letters are due TO Shasta by Wednesday, July 27th.

Volunteers Needed! To read scripture, provide flowers in worship and work at Friends Feeding Friends. Several dates are available for the month of August. Please stop by the bulletin board in the hallway to sign up.

Candlelight Prayer Vigil for Peace, Hope and Healing: Wednesday, August 3rd 8:00-9:00pm We will be joining other area churches at the Carlos Jones Park and Gazebo on Main Street as we pray for our community, nation and world. We hope all of you will join us for this important event.

Get Ready! Get Set! Worship! Field Trip to Grandfather Mountain: Tuesday, July 19th; Join us as we head to the High Country to see critters, explore some of God’s beautiful surroundings and cross the Mile High Swinging Bridge. The cost is $8.00 per child plus money for lunch, snacks and souvenirs. Let Shasta know today if you’re going.

Tiki TV & Dessert with the Beacons: (6th-12th grade) We will meet in the Tiki Room on Wednesday, July 20th, at 7:00 p.m. for a yummy dessert and a chance to look for God in some unexpected TV episodes. We’ll finish up around 8:30 p.m.

Faith Friends Play Day & Picnic: (Preschool-Kindergarten) Pack a picnic and bring Mom and/or Dad and come to the church on Tuesday, July 12th, at 10:00 a.m. for a morning of all kinds of fun and play. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet…dirty…messy…or maybe even painted.
