CHURCH MINISTRIES

Homecoming! Today is the day! Join us after worship, bring a side dish and dessert to share at the cookout, bring a lawn chair and be ready for some fun as we celebrate together as a church family!

Keenagers: Nutcracker Ballet at the Steven’s Center – Thursday, December 17th; today is the last day to sign up. Unfortunately, we still don’t have the cost for the tickets (should know soon!). Dinner is on your own. Sign up on the Keenagers board if you would like to go.

Wednesday Night Supper: Our first gathering will be on September 30th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. If you haven’t signed up & would like to come to dinner, check out the insert in today’s bulletin for the different ways to do so. The menu for Sept 30 will be: Garden Salad w/ Sherry Vinaigrette, Braised Beef and Vegetable Ragout, Roasted New Potatoes & Chocolate Tarts.

Faith Friends: (Preschool-5th grade) We will meet on Thursday, October 1st, at 3:30 p.m. Faith Friends is an educational group that uses stories and crafts in applying faith and an understanding of God to life around us.

Church Workday: We will have a workday on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:00-1:00. If you can come & assist in any way, please sign up on the sheet in the upstairs foyer or contact David Whitfield or Shawn Gilley.

WITNESS

Friends Feeding Friends: Thursday, October 1st, 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The following are signed up to assist: Steven Lowe, Bob & Sylvia Chilton, Lydia Taylor, Wayne & Joy Barlow, Mae Daniels, and Bob & Terri Keck.

Sandwich Saturday: October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. The Get Ready! Get Set! Worship! kids and their parents will be assisting with this ministry.

Offering for Hunger & Hope: Next Sunday, October 4th, we will receive our Pennies for Hunger and Yokefellow offerings. Foods for the month of October are: Dried Milk and Oatmeal.

REMINDER!! Homecoming at FPCMA

Homecoming is this Sunday, September 27th. Here are a few important things to remember.

CHURCH MINISTRIES

New Member Class: For anyone that is interested in learning more about our church & what it means to be a member. Meet in Griff’s office at 9:45 a.m. Our last meeting will be next Sunday, September 27th. If you’d still like to join in, contact Griff.

Mission Trip Lunch: The Beacons will host a lunch immediately following worship today to share pictures and stories of their mission trip to Baltimore. Donations will also be accepted for next summer’s mission trip.

Beacons: (6th grade and up): Will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Lighthouse. The Banfield family will provide dinner.

Monday Scriptures: A Scripture study and prayer group for women of FPC – join us on Monday, September 21st, at 11:00 a.m.

Get Ready! Get Set! Worship! Monday, September 21st at 5:00 p.m. – Our 3rd-5th graders will be learning about the facets of worship and of the Reformed Faith.  We will meet in the Odds and Ends classroom.

Bob Chilton Memorial Bible Study: Thursday, September 24th, at 8:00 a.m. at Pages Bookstore.

BREWS (Brothers Reading & Engaging in Worship & Service): Will meet at Granite City Brews on Thursday, September 24th, at 7:00 p.m.

Mayberry Days: The Beacons will be parking cars on Friday and Saturday during Mayberry Days next weekend. Proceeds will fund their summer mission activities.

FINANCIALS

Thank you! For your continued faithfulness in giving tithes and offering.  As the Fall begins, we give thanks to the Lord for his provision through your gifts.  We are making budget and excited about this fall’s activities (Wednesday Night Supper, Keenagers, Beacons, just to name a few) which will quickly lead us to Advent and Christmas.

The Pennies for Hunger offering this month was 165.30! This money is distributed by Salem Presbytery to feed the hungry locally and worldwide.

Confirmation Meeting: This meeting is for parents and youth (ages 6th grade and up) who have not been confirmed and are eligible to participate in the confirmation process.

Keenagers to Grandfather Mountain: Thursday, September 17th; We’ll spend the day exploring all the mountain has to offer including the Mile High Swinging Bridge. Cost is $18.00. Please make checks payable to the church. Lunch is not included. Today is the deadline to sign up.

WoW Fellowship: We will meet in the Scout Hut on Thursday, September 17th, at 7:00 p.m. Join us!

Thursday Tales: (Faith Friends – Preschool-5th) Our Faith Friends will meet on September 10th, at 3:30 p.m. for a quick snack and then to deliver gifts to our homebound members.

Lazy 5 Ranch: Has been RESCHEDULED – Faith Friends and their parents will head to Lazy 5 Ranch on Saturday, September 12th, to spend some time with some of God’s creatures. We will leave at 9:15 a.m. Cost is $10/person. We must have at least 15 people. Deadline is Wednesday, September 9th. Sign up & turn money in to Shasta if you’d like to go.
