Sunday, May 31st, immediately after worship we will have a covered dish lunch to celebrate our Graduates. Everyone is invited to be a part of the celebration. The church will provide chicken and drinks we ask that everyone else bring side dishes and desserts to share.

It’s a wonderful time of year, come help us celebrate!

Beginning on June 10th we will be offering a short Bile study on the book of 2nd Corinthians. This study will meet once a week for 5 weeks at 11:00 in the Ladies Parlor. New Baby

We are thrilled to announce the birth of Anna Louise Gatewood, daughter of Griff and Elizabeth, who was born this morning, Saturday, May 16th, at 4 a.m.  She weighed 9.5 lbs and was 21-3/4″ long. Congratulations to Griff and Elizabeth and welcome the First Presbyterian Church family, Anna Louise!

CHURCH MINISTRIES
Update on Baby Gatewood: As of today (Friday), Griff and Elizabeth are in Durham awaiting the arrival of the baby. Depending on the actual time of delivery, it could be Sunday or Monday when they return home. They appreciate your prayers and do want folks to come visit, but have asked to have some time alone (up to two weeks) with the baby at first, getting acclimated to all of the “new”, once they get home. We will be asking folks to provide meals for them. Be on the lookout for an email request.

Beacons & Families: We will meet at the church this afternoon at 2:00 pm and head to Greensboro to see our own Aimy McCrosky play with the Greensboro Youth Symphony. It’s going to be a great performance and it’s FREE. We’ll eat dinner before we head home. Parents and siblings are welcome to join us.

Keenagers: The trip to Roanoke for lunch & tour of the O. Winston Link Museum has been RESCHEDULED for Thursday, May 21st. There is a new sign-up sheet on the board. Today is the deadline to sign up.

Sign-ups! There are numerous ways to assist in the life of the church. Some of those are: being a lay reader, putting flowers in worship, volunteering to collect recycling, participate at Friends Feeding Friends or Sandwich Saturdays. See the sign-up sheet in the foyer for dates available.

Choir Update: We are on our regular practice schedule till the end of May. The month of June, we WILL NOT have Wednesday night practice; we will meet at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings to go over music for worship. We will be taking a break beginning the first Sunday of July through the end of August. We will be asking those who would like to do a solo, etc to do the anthem during these 8 Sundays. If you would like to do something or know of someone who would, please let us know. Mark your calendars!!! We are planning on having a choir social, June 3rd at 6:30 pm. Stay tuned for more information on where we will be meeting.

WITNESS

Yokefellow Cooperative Ministry: All non-perishable items are accepted. The specific foods requested for the month of May are: Macaroni & Cheese and Spaghetti.
