Lenten Bible Study

Beginning Wednesday, March 4, and continuing each Wednesday through March, our interim pastor, Rob Evans, will be offering a study on a very live subject that touches us all – FORGIVENESS. Based on Marjorie Thompson’s wonderful little book, Forgiveness, we will explore such themes as:

– Is forgiveness a Christian duty under all circumstances? Or are there situations when Christians do not need to forgive?
– Is forgiveness a matter between individuals, or is it meaningful also in the context of communities?
– Is forgiving the best route to healing for the injured?
– How do we get past emotional barriers to real forgiveness?

The class will be held from 11 AM-12 Noon and is open to all adults. Depending on numbers of attendants, we will meet either in the Ladies Parlor or the Odds and Ends Classroom. Purchase of the book is not required, but would be very helpful. A sign-up sheet and book order will be posted in the hallway. You are invited to make this part of your Lenten journey!

Letter from the Interim Pastor

January 22, 2015

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

I hope the New Year for you has gotten off to a good start and all goes well in the daily routines of your lives!

I write to let you know that the Session recently approved the renewal of my contract here as your interim pastor through April of this year. This renewal came at my request, as I feel this will be the right time for my departure. The Pastor Nominating Committee has been working very hard in the search for the new permanent pastor and while we are not sure when this will be, it is hopeful that this will take place somewhere near the time of my leaving, if not sooner.

It is only right and fair that I give you some “head’s up,” as to my immediate future with you. In these next 90 days, I will continue to be your pastor, and we will continue to worship and serve and be faithful as a congregation. To each of you, please know that it has been my extreme privilege to be a part of this church family and I will always feel closely connected to you!

Christ’s peace!

Rob
