Archive for August, 2012

It’s the first Sunday of the month – and you know what that means!  It’s time for our Offering for Hunger and Hope!

Start gathering your pennies & other coins and bring your Cents-A-Bility offering with you to church on Sunday.

We will also collect our food offering for Yokefellow Ministries.  The food of the month is: Canned Vegetables.  Clean out your pantry or stop by the grocery and pick up some canned goods to help feed those in our community.  Every little bit makes an impact!

Just a friendly reminder that this Sunday we’ll start our “Coffee (Half) Hour” in the church Fellowship Hall at 10am.  This is a wonderful way to ease into your Sunday morning with fellow church family members as we gather to fellowship and prepare to worship God.

The focus of our time together will be a casual conversation of the book I’m doing my fall sermon series on: The Year Of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs.  Each week we’ll take a chapter out of the book and talk about it.  This will truly be an open, free-flowing discussion – less of a Bible study/lecture and more of a guided conversation.

Of course, it helps to read the book before you come, and you can pick up your copy at Pages Bookstores right here in town.  This Sunday we’ll be looking at the Introduction (pgs. 3-13).

Hope to see lots of you there at 10am this Sunday morning!

As was announced in worship this past Sunday,  the Bob Chilton Bible study will be moving to Thursday mornings .  Our next gathering will take place at Pages Bookstore tomorrow morning, August 9th, at 8:00am.  Everyone is invited.

The Bob Chilton Bible study began over a decade ago, organized and led by former church member Bob Chilton.  Bob’s passion was helping church members study and learn more about the Bible. Upon his death in 2003, the Bible study was continued and renamed in his honor.  For the past ten years, Steve has led this study and uses it as part of his sermon study and preparation.  The scriptures the group discusses over coffee and pastries are the same scriptures Steve is slated to preach on the following Sunday.  It is not uncommon for Steve to refer to some of the group’s “musings” in his sermons.

We are happy to continue this wonderful ministry as it moves from Wednesday to Thursday mornings. We hope to see you there!
